1st thing i would like to mention here is steve jobs...

this guy change my perspective of a presentation and on my belief of a product that is personal.
i come to know about the existence of Steve Jobs by a simple presentation by my lecturer about how a good presenter looks like and a comparison of Steve Jobs presentation and Microsoft Bill Gates are shown... you know the winner... well... I wish I could get that invitation to watch Jobs present the Mac and the i phones but Microsoft... hehe.. no way...

I wish he could have live longer but I know in times like this is the time to learn from the past, and live for today while planning for the future...

I just get rid of my Maxis broadband and get myself umobile.... kinda something like this...

To the remaining blogger that view my blog by accidents or my blog did have some unique characteristic...

How could someone who had it all plan out... farm life and those exitement of shrimp farming could end up...

in an office, middle of the city... wearing formal wears, sitting in front of pc keying data, surrounded by hundred of thousand of strangers, hundreds more passed by and brushed shoulders...

why?

It comes out rather personal.

Was I too obsessed with farming that I had neglected something like family. It takes me more than half a year staying at home to realize, I am now at home.

I am now really at home... letting go is not that easy. But it does give me a new perspective.

I will be doing some ironing later on.

a warm day

there are not much rain these few days... been to 2 places in Tanjung Sepat... 1 is near the fish landing dock and 1 near the sea side (a place to drink toddy or palm wine)... eat a lot (teochew style marine fish, crabs with lots of eggs and hepatopancreas, taufu soup with generous abalone and othes I can't recall much... to full) and a little toddy and 100 plus. Really... would post some picture I taken when I am not eating of course. ;-P

Back home was rather quite a mess to be handle... I need to clear some space for books.

Secret Recipe Sri Petaling... I would trade a hand made noodle (Pan mee) anytime for this plate of something.

my assignment right now... to clear a quarter of that space there to fill it with more books.

Starting work this coming Monday.

I am an imperfect person. I made mistakes. I insulted you. I probably had steal from or lie to you. I had abandoned one of you in your time of needs. I peeped on you (girls only.. guys with their proteins failed to impress me, i prefer fats)... ok and all the possible hurtful thing I did.

Well, I used to felt sorry for that but then as time passed by I realize I cannot live in this regrets all my life. I need to thank you all, those people that taught me directly/indirectly, knowingly/unknowingly and sincerely/insincerely... I owe you all a thanks. Because had we not being put into this positions in life and had we not met, I may not know you all.

Because your existence in my life, I am the me today. Never to regret every mistake in life but to cherish every person in the frames of life time you took with the best camera you had... your eyes. and the best harddisk in the universe, your brain.

How I wish to just say Thank you in a simpler way. :-)

Hey hey I have been out of blogging for quite some time. Well... even this is not an edited one (I type my thoughts in Microsoft Office Words Student Edition 2007 before pasting it on a notepad and then here...). So...

I have been looking for jobs. Well, rather choosing them (sigh!). Sometimes I wish I can be like a vampire. Graduated and re graduated thousands of time and choose which career to work in. The pros is I get to re live the moments I wish I could have make a different, to fix that 'mistake'. The CONS... I have to re-live the sad and negative aspect of life again and again. I have to see my mortal love ones die again and again.

So the Good thing about being mortal or die-able... is perhaps there is no need to look back. There is only one way and somehow most people or if it is just me... to make sure I don't regret of not fulfilling what I really want before... death?

How does death relate to career?

That depends on how long you think you are going to live. Since I believe there are not yet a case where people work and when they know it is time to die... they just write a resignation letter, settle the case, pay any left over bills, then claim their ordered coffins and say "Everything is in order, now I shall die."... no I haven't met this thing yet. But who knows, it's quite a something 50 years later.

Plan. There is a need for a plan.

The last few days have been rather slow...

Things like reading and enjoying coffee that seems so odd during those days before I started working had become a normality.

I was more concern about my health and somehow started to accept me for who I am. At least there is no longer a need to base my value on lies and start everything from base 1. Something I believe I should have do from the early beginning.

Working hard for the aquaculture future, to be a better future not in the eyes of bloggers but of course for God.

Awkward... yeah. Going to church have no meaning to me if not for my need to understand God better and so working hard on things like a career, I believe should be base on love for God. :)

I am still learning. What lies ahead of me?

I will never know but I know for now, it is time to do some reading up of To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee before going to sleep. :)

There is moments in life that I just wish I can just sit there and enjoy a book, have a coffee and just live that one hour as if that is my only one in that day.

Brushed my teeth before sleep and just get a bible and read at least 1 chapter of any book.

O well well... I got invited to my 2nd premiere screening that I had to turn down again.

Kinda tight up with work... not a bad excuse considering I wish I can just threw rm100 cash to the shrimp and ask them to settle it themselves. Ala carte... no can't do that...

a brief 3 days in KL

Yes I was in KL, 3 days. Result of completion of harvest. Thanks to the starting day of culture at 46 days I got 1.5 months free, add another 1.5 months and I got myself 3 months = 3 days of holiday. Huhu.

Here is how I cam-whore the whole 3 days... aside of waiting at workshops and service center that's it.

Pardon the picture, there was still a 300 kilometers away from home and my body+mind was tired.

Life is a many strange thing, Like suddenly I appreciate my ride at pond.

How it stands in the morning light.

When I dried my clothes after the rain... in temporary store feed.

When wild boar slaughter or processing becomes my camera target.

They shave the dead boar.

P.S. there is suddenly partial harvest at my assigned pond late at 4pm. So I got to work until 7pm. Setting back the long-arm paddle wheel and paddle-wheels. I am grateful that the Assistant technician (C4) stay back to help me... a still training Assistant technician (C5).

Why aquaculture?

Long before I know aquaculture, I watch a movie

and one of the character says something about shrimp and so I was having "Ooo interesting... shrimp".

But what really put me in the agricultural path?
Perhaps I should thanks this magazine that happen to be for the previous tenants.

It had annually been delivered to the wrong person and from getting excited for getting an Australia stamp, I read and got equally excited on the prospect of Agriculture... wonder why Malaysia failed to inspired agriculture locally... should read this.

There are nothing mysterious in agriculture or in my job, Aquaculture...

You got to have the

not to the extent of nailing yourselves but there is lot's of hardship and whole lot of passion.

you got to have the urge to know more.

Since you can't really have an army of worker like this

Basically you need to rely on others from various field of study...

Got grazed by machines, poked and injured by fish spines or shrimps rostrum... get a doctor
Wiring and machinery... some mechanics, it can be a SPM or diploma in electical or mechanical.
Marketing
Accounting
Lawyer
Business admin... and things necessary.

No man is an army and aquaculture don't need James Bond.
Read more about aquaculture from the local library. The blogs are alright with interesting ideas and aquaculture can be approach from different angle. It is life science in application ^^.

Looking on the yellow moon, waiting... for the silent to break.
Knowing for certain, as if breath in me being taken away by a force, I wish I can fight it away.
I know my time will come.
I touch the brown blade of wild grass with one hand.
Another one I hold her palm tight against me. The cold monsoon wind blows against us.
The strong wind tries hard to break us apart, yet the coldness of the night brought us closer.
We share warmth together by the palm, by that small portion of shoulder and we hug.
What nature tries to hint to us?
Was it a hint of separation or a union of two people?

That day I saw her last, yet her breath last forever in me.
She left and I know a part of her still stick to me.
I wish to let go, yet it hangs on.
Over the years, I forget. Some part of it dies away. Some part of me.
I ponder and wonder for years.
For seconds, I wonder into that greyish soil of my soul.

That one day as if rain had once came again.
Bringing some green back to my parched up soul.
That tiny little trees will it grow big?

I do not know.
But I want to be there until that one day it does grow old.
From its withered remains, I know one tiny seed is waiting to burst.

Life in an every day office and field work.

Yinkoon would do this:-

1. Looking out from the office

2. Wash and hang dry the laundry.

3. Measuring potential pest.

Up close on potential pest.

4. Cast net to catch shrimp... but got this tiger prawn instead.

Use hand as measurement. Real size about 8 inch.

5. Write something on my Tupperware with the obvious blog URL.

6. Displaying the catch of the day. Yesterday.

Well this is for this month. I am too occupied to be creative so do enjoy.

My graduation day around the corner so I may have more time in that 10 days holiday.

At last I have time to edit this piece of thing...

In farm, during harvest, we had excess prawn... so this excess 1 or 5 kilogram goes either to the BBQ, mouse trap or human food... in my case, it was breakfast.

I saw this small bugger just outside the office. My aiming was not good so I decide to hit it with the longest wood I could get my hand on.

Some State and Land Department officer coming to inspect. By the way, the water is put into the so called sedimentation cannal.

A minute of silence for the two dogs that died due to food poisoning. Was probably better than being bludgeoned to death before audit day.

Farm week 1

As the title had implied, I work in a farm.
A farm have workers. Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

It have a farm executive aka stalker and a workshop(in pic) guy thinking where is his next fishing spot.

Catching for dinner can be difficult.

To the extent we catch it in the mud pool after the pond was dried out after complete harvest.

So we have some preparation

We cook, we prepare the food. But due to the hectic time...

I only managed to get this picture for the cooking part

We were trying make fire using charcoal... 4 young men to light a fire.

It turns out the fire was to overwhelming... we overcooked the "Ayam Pansuh"

Later that day we have some singing and praise and worship.

but what is more remarkable was that I have really had an enjoyable day.

It was a wonderful day.

Holidays

There are just a few days more before my 2nd running project will be officially ended. A blood test will be performed and preserved. A mini project to be performed and completed.

What is new about this few days?

Well, aside of the dead and injured/sick fish, the routine and the holiday season, nothing was really different. Perhaps except a request for fish larvae from a coursemate for her final year project.

At first I am okay about it but I put her on hold. I don't understand why she doesn't have a broodstock if she need to use fish larvae.

I had a discussion with my supervisor and the conclusion is I can give her a pair of broodstock. However, she will be responsible for those broodstock and we shall held no responsible if she lost them. No... I have to be said I need to keep enough broodstock for my team.

Maintaining them is already a problem. If we do help, it was due to an act of mercy.

I never knew that this broodstock will later be so valuable. All the effort is worth the sweat.

For now, I should stay focus and finished the job before the Progress Presentation.

I have never been tag and Christmas had just been rekindled 2 yrs ago after I had few years without Christmas. To me, everything will do as long as it was given with a sincere heart and being real helps me too. I don't want to hold a present that are going to bleed the giver dry.

Practical 1: Present must be affordable to many. (I would be happy with a good ballpoint pen)

Practical 2: Useful thing (Alarm clock, water bottle(can put hot water), tupperware) practical stuff

Practical 3: Something you can buy of the shelf. Or supermarket. Or you may want to DIY if you want.

Practical 4: Don't need fuse over the wrapping. I will be happy even if it was wrap in a oil paper or majong paper or if not newspaper. think about the environment...

Christmas list:

1. Water bottle
2. Tupperware by Tupperware
3. Alarm clock
4. Fold-able umbrella (must be sturdy)
5. Writable ballpoint pen (any brand... can write than okay)
6. A neck tie (simple and smart)

Research or Work?

Work-
I am able to work in a shrimp farm where lots of physical, quick thinking and stress involved. It will be my first step to become a technician, then section manager and then farm manager. It can also branch into Sales and Marketing executive after my 3 months working as worker. In short, good physical condition and quick thinking is important.
may not be able to attend church due to working from 8 to 6 pm everyday including Sunday.

Research-
I will be put into hours of thinking, reading and improving the experiment. The path included scholarship from National Science Foundation and other Agriculture and Science community. Option include being a lecturer or Science or Fishery officer.
maybe able to attend church depending on the schedule for either coursework or research.

A man of two soul is not stable and So I need to make a choice...

I pray everyday that everything I do let is be to Glorify His name and whichever path I choose, it will be walk with faith. Whichever job I choose to take, let is deserve my best of effort.

Preparation for cold shock*

The water Temperature in degree celcius

The milt and chopped testical (catfish's).

Pour the milt onto a muslin cloths and wrap it.

Pour the saline solution as the milt is squeeze and the extract pour along with saline onto the eggs

Squeeze more...

Mixed them thoroughly using a chicken feather.

After 3 minutes, treat the fertilized eggs with 5 degree celcius of fresh water.

Then Pray... that your heater works. Because...

It is monsoon. Wind and rain and work hazard. Being worried is just part and parcel of dealing with living things.

* Cold shock is induced in fertilized egg in the hope to produce a triploid organism. Imagine the eggs had a 1N nucleus(functional) and a 1N polar body(not functional). The sperm is another 1N. During normal fertilization, the 1N polar body extrude out of the ovum once the sperm enter the egg. Now what if... the time when all the 3N is in the ovum (the 1N nucleus, the polar body and the sperm)... and a shock trigger the ovum to response by hardenning the outer membrane causing the polar body and sperm to trap in the ovum... hence 3N.

friday service in anglican church

it was those time again for me to go to church.

the church service here start on friday since sunday is working day. it is as such in terengganu.

even the batik day start at thursday since friday would be the start of weekend.

so it goes with the praise and worship, singing hymn since the P&W team went to mission to penang st nicholas church.

then it would be the sermons where it was obvious some are sleeping or in between dozing off. i would have been but i tried my best to stay awake by jolting down some notes about the place and the people there.

then there would be more hymns like a roman catholic church and tithing/offering. the second last would be the holy communion where the priest dip the soluble cracker(to replace bread the symbol for the flesh of jesus christ who died...the details in the bible niv... read your bible)... then i was confronted... the priest asked me "have you been baptized?"

i said i am legally a christian and do i need to provide my baptized paper... which i had none since i don't bother keeping documents... so down i go with the 'custom routine'. i was stiff and emotionless because i had been through this too many time i lost count, i guess my relationship with God had distanced away. I need repentance.

so after a few more hymns and it ended. and i take this opportunity to take some picture during the lunch time.

after the service, i checked my time and tried calling my friend mr ajun ying again and again. then i gave up and see that i bought enough to brave the lonely days in hostel. i head to mydin...

then after the grocery shopping, i settle down for a coffee after a good 3 days without a drop of coffee... next time i am aiming for 1 week.

Final Year Project 1

Yes. I know I had a picture showing my larvae and broodstock a few post earlier...

Those days are hard learning. I am looking forward to what is currently written in my log book. It will not be easy with the rain due to the monsoon season.

But I know the only enemy I am facing is myself. To bring myself from the comfort of my bedroom to go prepare a 30 degree celcius water for my larvae. Yes, It is crazy.

Like I will be sleeping, eating, and do all my business in the hatchery... to provide optimum temperature for my larvae.

In the end, I just need to have 30 larvae so I can slice their caudal peduncle and obtain their blood for smearing.

If I got the time, I may as well extend the variables and make a complete set experiment. Those data could meant a lot.

this is my new blog. it is still new and i will keep in touch with fellow bloggers who i had yet to inform.

stressful time ahead. with deadlines, exams and final year project to take care of...

this is one of the time when i need to stay calm and focus in my work.

i will be back with more picture and if possible some picture of the meaning of a final year project and the monsoon cup if i stay at terengganu during the december.

5 or 6 years back, when I was in form 4 or form 5 when I was practicing karate, I notice a reddish bump on the side of my abdomen. It was like a mosquito bite but just a bit awkward. It got tiny swelling fluid like on the reddish swelling bump. Like those mutated mosquitoes bites with lots of fluid like pimples on top.

The thing is it was not painful as it should have been. So I began my trip to various clinic to help me solve this problem. At first when I was told it was a herpes simplex virus, I thought “okay... can you get rid of it for me?”... then after the 3rd or 4th clinic I went, I start to realize all I want is a cure and I look for it in the internet and in books. All lead me to one thing, I can't remove this virus in my body.

And yes I did find a cure, acyclovir family. I took the oral and the external cream for the skin. It took 2 to 3 weeks and I began to heal.. the blister dissapear and everything seems to return to normal.

And yet, I did not completely heal personally. I was sad and depressed because knowing that I can't possibly kissed without the possibility of transmitting this virus to my partner.

Somehow along the way, I have been delaying my suicide plan and along the way, I was shown something I was not taught in school. Not taught in morale education. It was about having faith. About believing the things you cannot see, you cannot touch and you cannot experience by physical mean, at least not directly.

The suicide of an Indian student during my form 6 hits me deeply. I see that death is so simple compare to life but with death it was the full stop of life. And I realize, I still got a lot of thing I want to do in life. Like riding a horse in the plains in New Zealand and growing food and standing in a production area in a vast land filled with life.

I realize I don't want to die. I got to live it out even if it means I will face troubled relationship and misunderstanding in life but as long as I live, I can make a difference in my life now.

And the disease is also maybe what I called as fate and I realize if I have not had this herpes in me that time, I would probably will not enter the st john's cathedral. I would probably did not learn to pray.

Though I once thought this as a curse, it was soon seems to me it was like a blessing for I was shown a world I once forsake as a child. As a child raise in a Chinese family growing up with traditional ancestral praying and the many Gods, I found I was soon becoming an atheist and reject the idea of religion.

But it is this disease, that I learn to pray, to have faith and to love myself and people around me better. I think it also taught me that by encountering problems in our life and working hard to overcome it, we are then becoming a more mature person. And it hold true in my life at least.

Fast forward today. I was doing aquaculture and every morning when I wake up for work during my industrial training, I felt really really good because I was standing in a production area surrounded by life (white shrimp).

I will never know what the future hold for me but I have faith on myself and the plan God have for me.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor : Yes, Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor : Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor : Yes.

Student : Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat, a Little Heat or No Heat.

But we don't have anything called Cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat, but we can't go any further after that.
There is no such thing as Cold. Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat. We cannot Measure Cold.
Heat is Energy. Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.

Student : What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as Darkness?
Professor : Yes. What is Night if there isn't Darkness?

But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and its called Darkness, isn't it?

Student : Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD.
You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can't even explain a Thought.
It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.
To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing.
Death is Not the Opposite of Life: just the Absence of it.
Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from a Monkey?
Professor : If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?

sometimes i ponder that after studying aquaculture for 2 years,
what have i changed into a different person? what have i changed?

is it just because of this...

there is the dissecting set somewhere in the mess along with

- published journals and technical report,
- laptop and wires
- writting utensils
- books
- thesis from pass year student
... my clock is hidden again

a sign i am being acting busy again.

really looking forward to a holiday. but a holiday is valuable here.
there will be 10 days holiday ahead but it also meant
i got 10 uninterrupted days to do my final year project.
no pesky student no annoying new blood disturbing my project.

i guess it is all up to me. *sigh*

hello,

today i thought i would be cycling down by the beach just to realize i am
afraid of the dark... well it was like this...

so i turn back...

and go to the gym

and later on while i was snapping picture, i remember a suggestion from
an author of a blog i like... she suggest i put some picture of the beach... and so i head to the beach now in this condition...

it got light now... much more safer. =D
and i start snapping away.

pc fair in kuala terengganu

hello hello,

had been giving myself some deserve rest after draining my energy and looking busy.

yesterday i went to a pc fair in hope to find a RAM for my fujitsu l1010 but i couldn't found 1. i go there just to realize i got to:-

1) buy a usb flash drive kingmax with ready boost and 2G memory- rm21

2) discover that kuala terengganu chinese girl was quite kawaii and erm i personally think they were pretty. =P

3) Got myself a balloon.
(i was given the balloon prior exiting the event, the usher gave it to me and yes just it was so long ago... 10 years ago since i got a balloon... normally people don't give me the balloon but in this case, i guess it was my first adult balloon. that balloon i had subsequently gave it to others... - edited 18 august 2009

but things were different in the labs,

lab is enjoyable, in a way- =)

-this was my last lab with that Dr. i like all the lab even if they gave me hard times..

enjoyable hard times... like this for example...

-some may say...i m posing with a fresh water prawn,
-answer yes and no, i am done with looking where their genital organ so before
they die of stress...
i am noob enough to soak them in ~10 degree celcius of water. their norm is around 20... so i am bad so bad they all look at me... like i am a criminal...
- no picture. they just kept saying
"koon kejam la" or "eh, jangan la, kalau anak kamu udang macam mana"
translation- "koon you're cruel" or "don't do it, what if your child is a prawn"

my response, "wow, my son is a big boss of shrimp bussiness... cool"-- completely ignore their words, but

deep down in some crack of me, i was thinking
"yeah, shouldn't do it to the prawn. it was indeed cruel."

and before i left i take some of this picture with prawn and course-mate.

this was a place i called university,

this is the few thing i do for the past 2 yrs of study
1st yr 2nd semester: preparing pond, labor intensive, result ok. but commercially -failed

2nd yr 3rd semester: integrated aquaculture, culturing african catfish and water spinach

2nd yr 4th semester: breeding african catfish

2nd yr 4th semester: seaweed culture mini project: i do on effect of density of Gracilaria edulis on nutrient uptake.

now in 3rd year, i had been through the 1st and 2nd year and it was rough and enjoyable road with friends and enemy alike and a sure thing for my love to my family and it was challenging for me because of i m still a new believer to Christianity. but by grace of God, i had made it and i will continue my search for improvement and learning by walking with Him.

i have also taken a liking to blog and i found a lot of beautiful blog in this blogging community.

before i had type this post, i happened to this particular blog talking about malaysia. well, there were a bit of political science right here so really if you think it was offensive pls let me know and i will take this link away.

convocation day(senior and friends)

so i was here to this convocation day, i would simplify it to 2 part. 1st part was my senior doing the same degree as me and 2nd part was my friends from church.

so here was the first part.
me and flower guy. he got many many flowers.

and a picture of my lecture(dressed in black) with all my senior(in purple).

and here was i during the 2nd part...
doing it with my church friends from Sarawak.

me and a marketing friend... well i felt like i m promoting for microsoft when i wore that shirt that day.

and i would say many years we had thousands and thousands of graduates out of university and college. looking for the next start, a career, a new field of study or work, and of course start paying back their debts or loan.

these graduates brings along the values and knowledge they had learned in the university. this was the time for them to contribute back to the field of their study. may God bless these graduates in their effort to provide a better future in their work and studies as well as in their life.

PS. the author of this blog is currently a Final year/ 3rd year student pursuing BSc Agrotechnology (Aquaculture). He may know how to breed fish but please... he desire more than just making it possible... he desire the knowledge to sustain that possibility. =)

my little lamb alarm clock. telling me it was time for this and that. love it.

a picture I took after I come back from Christian Fellowship. In many ways, I felt the rain was troublesome, limit my activities to indoors... =(
but in a way, it slows me down to give me the time to relect on things I would not had bother in my daily life.

Recently it had been really busy and I hardly had time for myself. But I know if I play my game right, I can pull it through.

Recently my friends house got broken into and his laptop was stolen including 4 of his mates laptops. I can understand the situation coz I had the same experience.

So we talk about it and say Kuala Terengganu was not like what it used to be. It was getting ugly and uglier.

Then to release stress, I read some of KennySia blog which helps quite alot in reducing my stress and of course this blog to pen down my thoughts.

me and my dad having this lemang at a road side stor along the road to kemaman... the lemang was ori not like the fake ones sold in kl. here it was cooked in the bamboo itself and not put cooked rice in bamboo and make fake smoke. try it. =)
